Horrifying. I'd rather pay six for a Consume Spirit to be able to hit players and gain at least that much life. Not to mention gaining the versatility of an X spell.

Honestly I'm surprised that this card hasn't been reprinted. It's the sort of overcosted but still decent removal attached to a little something extra, that is showing up in sets nowadays, like Assassin's Strike, Liturgy of Blood and Grave Exchange. Not to mention the name is setting-neutral and the flavour makes sense.
