Almost never worse that Diabolic Tutor. The mana cost can be the same and is more flexible, and there's usually not much point in searching up something you can't afford to cast, anyway. And if you have, say, available but not , you'll be glad for that flexible cost. You could theoretically even use this in a non-black deck, though it's probably too expensive for that to be practical.
Almost strictly worse than the original Demonic Tutor, of course (unless you have oodles of non-black mana but no , of course), but then, so is everything.

Lands do have a converted mana cost of zero. You could theoretically search for it, nothing is stopping you. Every card has a converted mana cost, even lands.
202.3a The converted mana cost of an object with no mana cost is 0.

An excellent tutor except for you getting to show the card.

I love the art and the card. It's especially good in Commander, where it doubles as an extra tutor and the land amount is high.

Great tutor for black decks, and an OK tutor for anything else. I usually have my two copies in my decks somewhere... And, yes, the art is so kickass.

The real question is, who is beseeching the queen? It looks like Cabal Patriarch.

The art reminds me of Zelda: Twilight Princess, when Zant sees Ganondorf in the Shadow realm.
...yeah.
