You play Excommunicate on a creature, then use Jace, the Mind Sculptor's first ability to put that creature on the bottom. Obvious synergy.

I believe this particular card is a political statement.

@ Cheza:

Excommunicate is a white Time Ebb. You're welcome.

I personally ran 4 of these in my {GW} midrange deck. It really surprised opponents when they had to draw their blockers all over again.

I'll grab this in draft sometimes. 3 mana isn't too much to play for bouncing their creature and killing their draw step. There are better picks, but this isn't so bad. 3/5

I'd usually prefer Oust to this but this does have the advantage of not gaining your opponent life.

Certainly a high draft pick.

A solid tempo slower, though most decks would prefer a creature some prefer... this.

Well, there is hope R&D. More flavorful than most white removals.

It works well with green having "reveal the top card of your library. If it is a creature card, put it onto the battlefield."

But to rephrase this card, it says: "Return target creature to its owner's hand. That player skips his next draw phase." Therefore it has a hidden effect similar to a black discard effect and therefore doesn't really fit into white. I would have rather had a white bounce with lifegain or draw a card instead. (See Call to Heel or Repulse).

As a blue version of Excommunicate, I would add an additional choice similar to Hinder or Ether Well.

Why is this card rated so low? Its about tempo advantage, get some cheap beaters out and waste away an entire turn with this. Nasty if they try to cast the same creature and you respond with another one of these... 3.5/5
