Combos nicely with Walking Atlas. Say... atlas on atlas action! I SMELL A THEME DECK!

I could easily see having a five-mana ceiling on a deck and using the rest of your land to retrace. In fact, I planned out such a deck. This would work pretty well there.

I use this in my landless artifact deck that uses purely mana-producing artifacts (Moxes, Lotus, Sol Ring, etc) and it's just super.

... at least that's what I'd say if I was filthy rich.

I don't know about being "too situatinal for how much it costs." Once I hit 5 mana, there is a 50/50 chance of hitting the 6th land drop. I would like to up my chances of getting that 6th land/mana or at least a personal howling mines at the cost of not playing lands I don't need too.

I think the trick is to have it on the battlefield early on. I sometimes use the Atlas is my Krosa-Landfall deck, in which cards like Krosan Wayfarer and Lotus Cobra will allow you to play it relatively early on. Then, by getting your lands on the battlefield by means of cards like Nature's Lore, Wood Elves and Silverglade Elemental, means you've not played any lands technically, and thén it's nice to have an Atlas handy.

In general I like cards that work automatically without requiring additional mana or anything once in play. And if they draw me cards: even better.

About the effectiveness: I guess it becomes good if you have a lot of land fetchers in your deck. Such as harrow or terramorphic expanse. If in the average deck you have 40% lands, then this has a 60% chance of drawing you cards. Though of course drawing you cards, it increases the chance for you to draw lands. With enough land fetchers, the chance of this drawing you cards can go up to like 80% or 90% or something.

It's also good if you have lands for other purposes in there. Such as trade routes or seismic assault. Or cycling lands, that you don't intent to play unless you're in the first few turns (when this card ain't out). And of course if you have ways to cheat lands into play, this card is fun too. Or it's nice when you have a lot of extra turn spells.

It obviously gets worse if it doesn't have any synergies with your deck. All i... (see all)

This is too situational for how much it costs.
