Pretty cool card. 0-Cost artifact for metalcraft
Amazing when combined with Glissa, the Traitor tho
Turn One: Forest + Birds of Paradise + This
Turn Two: Forest + Glissa, the Traitor
Turn Three: Equip this to Glissa and destroy them
Glissa becomes a 3/6 First Strike, Deathtouch, Vigilance machine
3 damage every turn unless they chump block
they try and attack? first strike + deathtouch = instantly dead
they get annoyed and try and Doom Blade? too bad. Glissa is a black creature
summon a creature that will use an ability to kill it? Prey Upon for an instant kill

A pretty good target for Trinket Mage in a limited draft. The vigilance is certainly non-trivial. Strictly better than Kite Shield.

For all of the people saying that it's strictly better than Kite Shield, that's true, in context. But this is in a different artifact-filled enviroment (Scars of Mirrodin), than Kite Shield, and can therefore be more powerful and common. In M12, Naturalize is pretty much the only card that can destroy it. In Scars of Mirrodin though, Hoard-Smelter Dragon, Shatter, Sylvok Replica, Slice in Twain, or Oxxida Scrapmelter can destroy it.
In the entire block, Creeping Corrosion, Crush, Divine Offering, Glissa's Scorn, Victorious Destruction, Viridian Corrupter, or Into the Core can deal with it.
