As much as I love gorillas, this is my favorite Kird Ape variant even though, like the punisher mechanic, it gives the choice to your opponent.
If you draw (as opposed to play), Game 1 this creature will generally start as a 2/3 on turn one, the equivalent of shocking yourself or grabbing a very expensive Taiga with a Kird Ape (or a Loam Lion, sure). How good is this? According to winning Zoo lists over the last five or ten years, not good enough. Perhaps I am unwise to include this but not Kird Ape in my 450 cube if that's how tournament players feel, but the satisfaction of a 2/3 on turn one in mono green, ready to block your opponent's Goblin Guide or Jackal Pup is an experience I like to have.
