If you are at 0 life you can pay half of it. So combine this with Lich.

You can't pay life if you don't have any, so it really doesn't work with cards that prevent you from losing the game. Nefarious Lich doesn't really do anything since he prevents damage, which isn't the same as paying life. This card is awful
