Why is this rated a 1.5/5? There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, especially compared to other limited cards.

They mentioned witch engines several times in the behind stories and comics and such. Sad that the card wasn't reprinted just for the nostalgia. I have zero hope it will be printed in the next set, if they were going to, they would have put it in Besieged.

This guy is actually pretty good, if you can get him to trade for something (removal, another creature) you get a neat little effect.
p/t is solid for a flyer as well.

you have a 3 power flyer for 4 mana, and it is great when your opponent doesnt want to discard
anything...and best of all...it can fuel "madness" cards Big Game Hunter anyone ?

... not actually that bad. Certainly doesn't deserve such a low rating.

no storm crow comments yet on this guy's page? guess not when a card is bad even in limited.

In Blue/Black Control, this card can lock down a game when combined with Nim Deathmantle and Dross Hopper.
Step 1: Sacrifice Serum Raker to give Dross Hopper flying at the end of their draw step. Everybody discards.
Step 2: Pay for Nim Deathmantle's triggered ability, recurring Serum Raker.
Step 3: Attack on your turn with your 5/4 black flier w/ intimidate.
Step 4: Repeat steps 1-3
