Holy Strength, Hero's Resolve, Conviction, Stonehands, the aforementioned Blue Ward, Pledge of Loyalty, or Light of Sanction if you wanna get fancy.

I hate cards like this which are useless by theirself. There are a lot of enchantments that make this card work, but I think test of faith might be the best card to use. Putting +1/+1 counters on this creature is a permanent solution as opposed to something that can be naturalized or disenchanted.

They needed to put a ruling about the artist? First time I ever see that. I thought interaction with artists only existed in Unhinged/Unglued D:

Now if only there was someway for it not to kill it's self hmm?

It's maybe overcosted by 1 considering that Prodigal Sorcerer is only 2Blue and doesn't kill itself when used. Still, this is definitely not bad. Splash white and prevent the damage it would deal to itself, and slap Freed from the Real on it. Blue for 2 direct damage on a stick, in blue? I'll take it.
