She would forever be safe from stray lightning bolts, from the gouts of flame, from the death-magic that had stolen the lives of so many of her people. Her dreams were still haunted with visions of those molten bolts of death; that crackling, violet lance of energy that suddenly siezed her best friend and scout-mate, Lydia. Their eyes met for an instant, they wordlessly shared a goodbye that lasted an eternity, and then Lydia was gone. The elves were forever fighting against all odds, and she was trapped in the center of it all - as if in sanctuary, forced to watch helplessly as her people continually were killed all around her.

...but her bloodline kept her safe. Like her mother and her grandmother before her, some ancient, esoteric arcane ward protected her from magic. Her remaining friends claimed she was lucky. He... (see all)

Doesn't die to Doom Blade. 5/5.

End satire.

Anyway, if nothing else this is a chump blocker that your opponent can't remove before it's served its purpose. Load it up with something that gives it regeneration (something green has plenty of options for) and you have a rather effective blocker.

Also, I second the whole "pantsless chick talking about tight embraces is awkward" thing.

It's a nice 1-drop, specially if followed by a turn 2 Spirit Mantle.

Keywording troll-shroud has made it possible to have more troll-shrouded creatures in a single set than ever before -and mostly at common no less! If they continue this trend into the next expansion, it will have the pleasant side-effect of making buff auras more relevant -maybe not to competitive play (unless there were some really good ones?), but definitely to casual players like myself.

P.S. Slap a Trollhide on her and you've got yourself a pauper's Troll Ascetic!

It's a little awkward that a lady elf without pants is talking about tight embraces, but I guess I'm not really complaining.

Anyway, I'm not too excited for this. A 1/1 with no extra abilities isn't really something I'm worried about seeing die to targeted removal. I suppose the main point of this is to outfit it with auras and/or equipment. Shouldn't be a bad card in M12 limited considering the aura sub-theme going on. In standard I guess it might be a good body to equip your swords to, or maybe something you could use to play around with Phyresis. Outside standard, it might be fun to make an elfy aura deck with Silhana Ledgewalker and Alpha Status. Just remember that the traditional weakness of elves isn't targeted removal (I'm looking at you, Pyroclasm).

This kinda stuff is great in green, with stuff like Overrun or Trollhide, which basically means you have a 3/3 that doesn't die. Also, it's an elf. I love this card because it's great, but not in some obvious, broken way. It's just really well-balanced.

There are other great cards that do something similar, of course, but as-is it's a great common, and perfect for newbies (like me :P). I think 4/5 is about right.
