If this is supposed to be Change of Heart then I would have allowed the caster to pay an extra 3 to not have to discard.

Really, the function of spellshapers, in my opinion, is to ditch late-game lands, fill graveyards, or allow for madness plays. If that's not what your deck needs, replace the spellshapers with the spells they represent.

Such a low rating for such a good card.
Here's the thing: madness, incarnations, threshold, etc etc. Any deck that runs this is going to benefit from the discard, and you can prevent aggro decks or utility creatures from doing their thing for a turn. Kris Mage is probably better though.
