Unfortunately outclassed by Gravecrawler now, which is a shame because this is pretty good. 4/5

this card is great.
2 for a 2/1 plus u can get him back for instant damage with unearth for 1 swamp. jeez.
he is such a key component in my zombie deck, plus he makes great sacrificing fodder with Fleshbag Marauder.

4/5

Brilliant sacrifice fodder. Play this guy turn 2, play a Fleshbag Marauder turn 3, unearth Dregscape and sacrifice him again to another Fleshbag on turn 4. If you're really lucky, turn 1 was something like Dark Ritual + Death Baron - but that's a bit too optimistic.

Can you Cloudshift this after unearthing and attacking to keep it from being exiled? Because that would just be awesome, you would get another unearth for just a White

The only drawback on this card is that it can come back once - wish it were more like gravecrawler It just doesn't do enough - i mean, if it did something like make your opponent loose life or discard cards then maybe.

This needs to be developed more. All things said, 3/5 to be fair.

"Can you Cloudshift this after unearthing and attacking to keep it from being exiled?" --Araganor

Unfortunately not.
Unearth's replacement effect is quite a buzzkill regarding such combos. Once you unearth a creature, you have to "exile it (...) if it would leave the battlefield", which means this happens instead of anything else.

Cloudshift triggers this effect (exiling the zombie), so Cloudshift's ability can't do anything. Similarly, it's just exiled right from the battlefield if it would die, preventing any abilities that would trigger on stuff being put into your graveyard.

That's why I am not a big fan of Unearth. I wish Wizard had worded it differently.
Because it would have been possible to prevent easy abuse without prohibiting any shenanigans like this.
Imagine this wording for example, which has been inspired by Evoke:

Unearth Black (You may cast this ... (see all)

Actually...yes, you CAN Cloudshift it. Take a look at this ruiling:

If a creature returned to the battlefield with unearth would leave the battlefield for any reason, it's exiled instead -- unless the spell or ability that's causing the creature to leave the battlefield is actually trying to exile it! In that case, it succeeds at exiling it. If it later returns the creature card to the battlefield (as Oblivion Ring or Flickerwisp might, for example), the creature card will return to the battlefield as a new object with no relation to its previous existence. The unearth effect will no longer apply to it.

This same trick is in Standard right now with Whip of Erebos and Obzedat, Ghost Council
