@wadprime; you could, and there are better ways to do that, but there are also worse ways.

you could exile Duplicant and Sanctum Gargoyle then sac Synod Sanctum. Bring Synod Sanctum back to your hand. Play it. Exile Sanctum Gargoyle. Next turn Exile Duplicant. Then Sac Synod Sanctum and repeat. Every turn you can exile one of the opponents creatures with Duplicant.

I really like this card. Its very similar to an old favorite of mine, Safe Haven. This card seems nicely balanced and for the most part better than Safe Haven, although not strictly better of course due to the fact that the Haven is a land instead of an artifact and does not cost anything to sacrifice (although there is the upkeep phase restriction). The fact that you can exile any permanent rather than just creatures with the Sanctum is a nice improvement. In addition to other combos that have been previously mentioned, this card is fun to play in conjunction with Wrath of God, Armageddon and other similar spells.

Good for rescuing your own guys (hence, "Sanctum"), or for "When this card comes into play" abilities. Or both.

It would be a hundred times better if it didnt need to be sacrificed.

Would you be able to use a bunch of Act of Treasons to essentially steal all of your opponent's creatures?

Great in mono-red control decks. Combos nicely with all of those temporary card stealers like Traitorous Blood and Act of Treason.
