It makes perfect sense to me, people just whine too much.
Stop thinking about it as a Ranger or Archer, and think of her as a Hunter. As a human, she's limited to relying on her bow, which is traditionally used to hit arial creatures. As a werewolf, she still retains her hunting prowess, but it's enhanced by the wolves natural skills - since it no longer needs the bow, it hunts creatures on a one-on-one, predatorial basis.

She's going to lose some fingers when she pulls that trigger.

I used to play this card, but then I took a gigantic evil bloodthirsty werewolf in the knee

By knee I mean it mauled my face off

Makes sense to me... as a human archer, she hunts down evasive (flying) prey and deals damage equal to her "base" power; as a werewolf, she hunts down elusive prey (which are trying to avoid any chance of combat with her) and deals damage equal to her total power.

It actually speaks a good deal about the difference between otherwise similar humans and werewolves. Humans use weapons which augment their abilities, but are still limited (no amount of ferocity will make the ranger's arrow's deadlier), while werewolves use their feral abilities and are willing to get their hands dirty for the extra killing power.

My favorite werewolf. The werewolf side is better than the human side, but not strictly better. In a few rare situations, such as when you want to shoot down your opponent's phantasmal forces, or you have no red, you may actually want to flip her back. I'd love to see more werewolves like this.

This form is pretty meh, but her flipped side (at least I think it's a "her") is amazing. Repeatable removal (albeit against anything with 4 toughness or less)? That's pretty awesome.

This card is really good. Don't think of it as this side vs that side, it's all one. The reason I like this werewolf so much more than the others is the strong ability is at instant speed. You are in complete control:
1) pass the turn
2) kill something

Obliterates counter-heavy control decks if you can resolve her. Get two out and your opponent is in for a world of hurt.
