Knowledge Pool only stops them casting from their hand. Won't prevent a flashback like Ancient Grudge (which is standard) or Ray of Distortion from breaking the combo.
Grafdiggers Cage takes care of that, but now you got 3 cards you need.

This plus Knowledge Pool creates a hard lock for your opponent. The first spell they cast is exiled by the knowledge pool, and this prevents them from completing the second part of knowledge pool's effect

Run bant colors with green werewolfs, this, counterspells, and poder.
If you just get your mayor out, this and sit on counters is game.

I find it hilarious that this is Uncommon, yet it's the best curse in the set, in fact the whole block; second only to Curse Of Death's Hold.

Edit:Knowledge Pool, Treasure Mage to get the aforementioned pool. As for the Grafdigger's Cage to stop flashback. Run Trinket Mage. And top it off with Grand Architect to help power out the pool after you play the curse.

I have mix feeling about this card. Decks that utilize Arcane Laboratory and Rule of Law already have set up that would make sure the lock down would happen, but Curse of Exhaustion works wonder in multi-player, locking opponents without harming teammates.

Should have been in green (helps werewolves, cuts white out of the curse cycle that dark ascension was pushing)
Someone at wizards admitted the mistake of misreading the G as W (no clue how THAT happened) but I cant say this isnt in white's color pie, because it is.

I have a feeling this card will turn up a lot. Assuming you aren't even building around this it is not only is it good against combo and control decks, but if you get it early enough even aggro will have trouble going fast enough.
If you do build around it this could approach being extremely nasty. Erayo loves this card, for instance, and if you have your deck tuned to play expensive things this could easily even out the speed to be equal, with your spells being superior quality. Combined with blue for instance:
Cursed player: I play X
You: counter it
Cursed player: *sigh* your turn
You: oh look, i drew another counterspell!
Can anyone say free turns? Find a way to get recursive countermagic to soft lock them out of the game.

There's always Arcane Laboratory and Rule of Law.

@Kryptnyt
Yes, but this enchantment ensures that you are still able to cast multiple spells while your opponent cannot.
