I'm wondering why this is rated so low. Instant speed nondamage based creature killer that can take out land in need. This was discontinued because instant speed LD is no-no and nondamage based creature burial is not red.

Really great art, you really get a feel for how enveloping the chasm is. Not to mention the instant speed and versatile removal. Direct, non damage-based creature removal in red! Think about that. This is a good card.

For all of the things it can do, this card is costed fairly -- maybe even a little discounted. That doesn't make it a good card. If it appeared in a limited environment, it would be OK, and unconditional removal in red is nice in EDH. But in even the most casual constructed, you want more from five mana than a 1 for 1 trade.
