Great with cheap undying creatures like Young Wolf and Strangleroot Geist.

The best thing to do with this is to put it on the spirit you get from doomed traveler. That's a 4/ 4 flier as early as turn 2. That's just awesome in limited. And it's playable in standard.

Strictly better than Battlegrowth.

Great value in DKA. Not only can you use this to prevent an Undying creature from coming back, you can also put it on your own Strangleroot Geist when it rises again (Since, you know, Morbid triggered when it died). That's potentially a 6/5 on turn 3. If you really want to be mean, I'd say play it like this:
Turn 1: Forest, Llanowar Elves
Turn 2: Forest, Strangleroot Geist, Attack (hopefully they chump) and let it die. Cast Hunger of the Howlpack. Bam! 6/5 on turn 2.

Surprisingly useful as a removal guard. Someone tries to bolt your Terror of Kruin Pass and you slap a +1/+1 counter on it at instant speed. Effective and flavourful.

Easy to get value out of with a sac engine, particularly in Ghave EDH.

Really sweet in limited. Something dies during your opponent's turn, drop this on a flier or other dude, swing big on your turn. Also a conditional combat trick.

Use with Primordial Hydra to speed its path to a trample win.

This seems really good with Livewire Lash, especially in conjunction with infect. You just target the creature holding the lash with this, then use the lash's trigger to destroy a blocker. When this resolves, the morbid ability triggers, giving your creature 3 counters. At this point, you have at least a 6/4 to swing with (counting the lash), which is nothing to sneeze at (especially in infect).
