Strictly better than Pyrotechnics.
btw, there are two contradictory usages of "strictly speaking". don't go all "grammar nazi" on me (or lexeme nazi, as the case may be). learn to embrace the fluctuating nature of human language. it grows, adapts, etc., just like MtG, just like people, just like society, just like the universe.
don't mistake yourself for the overman.

Spendy for 6 total damage...only giving it a decent rating because sometimes I wanna break damage up and I can't play with 8 Rolling Thunders.

It might be a little bit more expensive or more restrictive than we'd like, but this card is fun to play with. Very evocative. And I love its art.

great with Chandra's Spitfire, but a little pricy as others have already mentioned. I have this in what I call my "Super Flying Shrimp" deck where most of the other cards are 1 or 2 drops, so I have room to cast this

So much fun having to hit yourself for one point of damage so you can tag another couple targets for two and three points of damage.

One of my favorite heavy red burns, but how does this have a higher rating than Shower of Coals?

I will deal 1 damage to you eager cadet, 2 damage to your glory seeker, and 3 damage to your angel of mercy.

@Erudite: I will show you The Overman. Is not the greater part of our fellow magi like the cards themselves? An aimless horde of dead mediocrity? Keen minds will always find The Will to Power, do not eschew this path out of some misguided and misnamed "morality". Conquer the untermencsh, or they will consume you. Strength is the only moral.

This is obviously not strictly better than Pyrotechnics. This costs 2 colored and can't kill 4 toughness creatures to name just two things.
