Unlike Greatsword, this is even less playable in M12 limited.
Greatsword can help you win the game, like if you have a Griffin Sentinel out and make it a 4/3. Kite Shield just helps stop your inevitable doom.
In fact, the flavour-text capsulates my point entirely: "To my sword I owe my glory, but to my shield I owe my life."

Uncommon rarity is such a strange melting pot of stuff. You get the superpowered french vanilla stuff that can't be common because they don't want it to dominate Limited, like Vampire Nighthawk, and you also get the stuff so bad it can't be common because players would actually get angry if they keep opening packs full of them, like this and those Angel's Feather charm cycles.

All these dang zero-cost equipment are screwing up my chances of getting a Paradise Mantle with my Stonehewer Giant Avatar in MoJhoSto! Stupid shields! Nobody likes you!
Ahem. Anyway. This actually seems reasonably playable in this Limited format, where an extra 3 toughness is very relevant. So despite being so weak and seemingly unplayable, this is actually a Spike card. Isn't that ironic?

This, accorder's shield, ichor wellspring, puresteel paladin, semblance anvil, torpor orb, sphere of the suns, bludgeon brawl, frantic salvage, piston sledge, psychosis crawler.
There's gotta be a goofy deck in there somewhere...
