Has no one heard of atmospheric perspective? The atmosphere makes very distant things look pale and bluish, even on a clear day. That's the reason the "purple mountain's majesty above the fruited plains" is purple. There is a lot of air between the foreground and the Progenitus.
Here's a link to the old picture: Pretty big Progenitus in the fog.

Progenitus, for a lot of players, taught us a valuable lesson about how there's pretty much no creature in the game that can't be stopped in some way - even if some are ridiculously hard to stop. When I first got myself a Progenitus just after I started playing, I was very gleeful - "protection from everything" just sounded so omnipotent and devastating. But of course, some Googling made me realise that it wasn't so invulnerable...
I guess my point is that you could make the most sturdy creature there is - for example, a Progenitus made indestructible (perhaps via Darksteel Forge and Mycosynth Lattice). It can be killed by any clone effect. Alright, give it Undying via Mikaeus, the Unhallowed. It can still be bounced via Evacuation, and then countered. Alright, make it uncounterable via Gaea's Herald. It can still be exiled via Final Judgment, or sent to the bottom of your library via Terminus. Sure, you can get it out of exile with some cards, and can find it in your library with oth... (see all)

I like the old art better. It looks more... ancient, mysterious, and powerful.
But whatever the art, this is just mean with Concerted Effort.

To all who are still confused, "protection from everything" means:
- unblockable
- shroud
- prevent all damage that would be done to ~~~~
- ~~~~ can't be equipped or enchanted
If something doesn't target this guy but would still affect him, he doesn't have protection from that. Final Judgment, Merciless Eviction, and other "fuck everything" cards also hit him and get rid of him for good.

@Gaffy00
Unfortunately Storm Crow still wins. Flying makes a world of difference to the Soul of the World as he watches helplessly from the ground. :P

The new art isn't bad. But the fact is, this card simply didn't need it. The old art was one of the most epic arts in all of Magic; it really conveyed the awe and terror of a hydra god who just woke from his centuries-long slumber. The new art makes him look like just another big fatty, rather than something omnipotent and otherworldly.
I think they should have given new art to Captain Sisay or Cao Cao, Lord of Wei instead.

Whenever I read this card's name I can't help but imagine it being said by James Earl Jones.
