dunno, not into this art, the other art has a shadowy, mysterious feel, and you can sort of tell that it is an incredibly large creature. It gives the impression that it is almost god like, which is augmented by the flavor text.
but this, even though it is breaking over a mountain, somehow gives the immediate impression (from across a table) of being only about as big as primordial hydra, kind of like how you dont notice how tall iona is till you see the little man in the side. And as far as portraying an almost godlike being, it falls short, it just looks like a nice big hydra :/, i mean its impressive to be sure, but it seems like just another animal, like primordial hydra

Is he erupting out of a volcano? Thats kinda sick. But the original art is just beautiful. If you saw that a deep sense of mystery and mind numbing fear would consume your very soul, the kind of fear and awe that words can't describe. If you saw this dude youd soil yourself and run. Not very eloqent.

@geraume actually, Clone doesn't target, if you actually took time to read the card. So you can Clone Progenitus, and then the legends rule occurs, and your clone is dead and your opponents Progenitus is bounced into their library, where it is relatively useless.

I'm actually a fan of the new art. Progenitus is supposed to be a massive, primeval being, a physical god trapped beneath the earth. Considering that it is bursting out of a mountain, and we can't even see below the middle of it's necks, The artwork on this just say to me "Planetary scale." Like when fully emerged, the hydra-god of Alara would literally reach into the upper levels of the atmosphere.
I like the other art as well, but I prefer this.

They wrecked the art of Progenitus, and they wrecked the art for Rafiq of the Many
What is wrong with WotC :(

One of the minority of cards that actually deserved to be in the set. I personally hate the new art. Old art was epic, this looks so.... I don't know.... not epic.
