Interesting fact:
If you read the Savor the Flavor article about Geist of Saint Traft called The Saint, the Geist, and the Angel, you see that when alive, Saint Traft was tricked into killing a cultist with the Binding Blade, which then freed Withengar who then killed Saint Traft. The guilt of freeing a demon is what caused his spirit to become restless and keep on fighting evil forever.

Excluding the flip cards, Withengar and Haakon are the only legendary creatures that can never be cast from the commander zone (Haakon because of his casting clause, Withengar because he can't be a commander, because his base state is the sword. This is the same problem with nearly all the flip cards, the exception being the essence ones.)

Phage gets an honorable mention as the only commander you have to use a loss prevention effect to summon.

Want to catch your opponent completely off guard? Concede the game, and suddenly he gets +13/+13! They never see it coming.

Fortunately, there are more than enough Timmies on Earth to satisfy his thirst to see play.

"Plus, he's technically colorless, which makes him all the more hilarious."
That is not correct.
Note the black circle to the left of the word "Legendary". That has rules implications. It means that the card is the colors shown inside circle. It replaces the need for cards without mana costs to say "this card is black", etc.

It's like Blood Tyrant and Ludevic's Abomination had a child and gave it a lot of steroids. This card is nasty, particularly the art, which looks brutal as hell. Belongs on a metal album, imo. I'm hoping they make this a wallpaper of the week, that'd be sick.

I would trade any one of his THREE types of evasion for Shroud. Something this hard to play should take at least a day of judgment to kill.
