Why would they? The hybrid border wasn't only a Shadowmoor thing. Shielding Plax

@SliverApocalypse: You're quite right, buy you don't see a huge (at least a 4/4, for me) flying creature that regenerates. In Modern I can see only Hellkite Overlord and Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon... However, this isn't exactly a regenerate creature: a standard creature can be exiled (with Path to Exile, fo example), or destroyed without being able to regenerate (with Putrefy, for example...). Note that even an indestructible creature can be removed in quite few ways, and even if there are indestructible flying creatures out there, there is always a little effort to make them work...
In order to deal with this you have to destroy the creature AND remove the sorcery from the graveyard, so it's almost a 2x1 alone, even before starting to retrace it... So I think this has a build-in recursion that shouldn't be understimated. I like retrace so much, hope to see it again!
Obviously it's not a tournament ... (see all)

7 CMC for a 5/5 token that has no special abilities? Eh... I'm so-so on this
In RUG this is awesome, because you throw Parallel Lives in the mix. However, if you are going to throw 5/5 tokens, there are far more dramatic choices.
I could be overlooking this card, but it's 2.5/5 for me as it stands.
If you have color based boosts being played, this can easily be a 7/7 for 7 and worth every bit granted the token will be red and blue, so it can take color based field buffs quite well, but that's more effort with less gain than other token drops I know of. This would be more of adding to the pressure mid-late game.
If you don't want to go Tribal with Dragons, I guess it is a good alternative direction if you tribal elementals maybe.

Not very red. Should be ok as a 2-of in a casual deck. In the late game you get repeatable finishers or control cards; that said, there are many to choose from; so meh.
Personally I use Tidespout Tyrant as he quickly wipes what is left of the field, sometimes the turn he lands if you have the mana. WIthin a turn or so they're out of lands.
The difference here is mostly that he can be nailed by a spell easily and this guy can keep popping up and multiplying but.. you're in a control deck.
Might be ok in a red deck with lots of the red filter cards, it lands in your graveyard early game and later if you need it you can pull it out for a finisher if the game went that long.
