On the other hand, Eternal Witness is really old, an uncommon, and generally understood to be a bit overpowered.
That, and it goes in mono-green, whereas this fits in a wider variety of multicolor decks.

or he's a Scrivener stapled to an Anarchist, which is pretty much what the Izzet are all about anyway.
still, a pretty solid (if somewhat underpowered) old card seeing print in exactly the right Commander deck to take advantage of its ability.

I think he's oozing with flavor, was well represented in his set. After all, flashback has proven that recurrence is a very effective tequnique in mtg, having many people ignoring higher mana costs. I think he's solid. 4/5
