I would argue that this is one of the best lands ever printed.

this land allows you to rebalance your mana on the turn you play it. Sure, if you're missing a certain color you have to wait a turn to USE that color, but this does allow you to place it on the field for cheaps. also, landfall activates twice with this

I wonder.....despite it being extremely common.....because it is so dang flavourful- would Wizards actually put this in From the Vault: Realms?
of all the potential 'crap' cards to put in the Vault....I'd be okay with this one actually. IF they include that Flavour Text. Without the Flavour Text, the rest of the card is relatively pointless.

Good and functional, Plains and simple. Prevents you from being Swamped with mana and allow you to see the Forest through the trees. Doesn't make a Mountain out of a molehill. Just remember kids no man is an Island, but a terramorphic expanse can search any basic land!

Its cheap (both in $ and costs) mana fixing. Run four if your playing four or more colors. If you are running three colors it is probably better to just use the respective Alara Tri Land. 4*

An uncomplicated deck thinner if a bit slow.
