The signets are flexible and efficient (for mana rocks). You can drop them second turn to get four mana a turn early, or you can drop them on turn three and still have two useful mana left over. My favorite manarock (darksteel ingot) has neither of these advantages.
Unfortunately, this is useless after Armageddon, and can leave you unable to split up your two remaining mana over the course of multiple phases.
If you don't need the color fixing, there are better things like everflowing chalice.

Staple in boros colored decks, and decent ramping outside of it for non-green decks. 3/5 is prefect for all the signets (besides demir for the perfect synergy)

good mana rock. very annoying to saplit the mana when casting multiple spells in a turn, it can be confusing. its a 2 drop, though, so it has upsides- play one on turn 2 then play 2 on turn 4. true for all signets.
