Riku of two reflections can't do anything good with it (apart of a 2x1 for only +UG), as the effect occurs when cast (not ETB), isn't it?

"We need more cards! We've run out of rare slots! Our curve is a little low! What do we do?"
"We chuck in some of the commons and uncommons from Rise of the Eldrazi my friend!"

@QuietK: No, that's not how it works, and Mithrandir is correct. Artisans ability triggers upon casting, not entering the battlefield, so even if Artisan is countered the ability will remain on the stack. If Riku copies an Artisan and you have a creature in the graveyard, you will end up with Artisan, an Artisan token, and the creature from the grave (you could pay more for a copy of that creature too, but I'll leave that to thought). Artisan's ability will only trigger on casting, so in no way if a copy is made will the copy trigger the ability. If we were talking about Karmic Guide or the sort, it'd be different, but it's all about being cast here.

@QuietK
Artisan's ability only triggers when he is CAST, not when he enters the battlefield. Sorry to burst your bubble.

@Mithrandir

The effect occurs whenever a creature enters the battlefield. So using Riku of Two Reflections, this gets a bit ridiculous.

Follow me here:

Using Riku and Doubling Season, pay eleven mana, and get back three creatures. Pay an additional six mana, and put out two copies of each of those creatures.

Let's assume you brought back Primeval Titan, Chancellor of the Spires, and Magmatic Force.

For seventeen mana, your board has 94 power, Annihilator 6, six additional lands, you play three lightning bolts at each players upkeep, and you have three Memory Plunder from the Chancellor.

With an additional six mana, whatever you brought out of your opponents graveyards can be copied using Riku, ensuring further devastation.

All of the above is done with twenty three mana.

This guy is perfect in Devour of Power, as he has great abilities to be copied by The Mimeoplasm, and has huge power to buff any more relevant creatures available.

Seems like a card that got planted into one of the decks that another pre-con wanted so you would buy them both :/

does playing him from your graveyard still count as casting him?
