It's a 1/1 with a free Lay of the Land built-in. Nothing game-changing, but it does give you a slight card advantage.

In mono green, when you don't have a land to play, or when you have something like Skyshroud Ranger on the battlefield, it's basically Nature's Lore on legs. If you do have a land to play, but you won't on your next turn, then it becomes Rampant Growth on legs. If you have a land to play on both this turn and the next, then it does you the favor of getting another land out of your deck (and thereby decreasing the odds of you drawing yet another on your next turn).
In a word: underrated.
