This reprint actually makes a lot of sense thematically, since red is now the only color without Exalted. There's also Krenko, Mob Boss supporting swarmy goblins.

Combo with Mogg Flunkies?

I have never known a goblin deck to have only one creature out anyways. 3/3 for 1Red is pretty sweet.

why the need of a new artwork? i played this card in stronghold and i still find it's awesome.
and the card is also great. 3/3 tribal sometimes is 4/4 or 5/5 so don't overlook.

Low CMC, good p/t, splashable, relevant tribe, good drawback for red = solid card for a common.

I don't get why the rating's not higher on this card as of now.
I think it deserves more love/respect than that.
I mean it's a 3/3 for only 2cmc. That's something, especially on red and it's easy to splash too!
The can't attack/block alone isn't that much of an issue I guess. At times it'd be a pain, but you even just get two of these guys and the drawback's "kinda gone".

New art wouldn't have hurt the card, but it is still good artwork anyway.

As for the card itself, a 3/3 for 1R is a definite powerhouse; it's drawback is actually pretty much negligible, since it should always be played in a creature heavy aggro deck. If you don't have a second creature in play with this, you are either very unlucky or playing the deck wrong.

Plus, as someone that first came into the game during Tempest block, it gives me warm nostalgic fuzzies. ;-)

Eternal Blue: What's wrong with the art? I'd say it perfectly encapsulates the moggs as being the incarnation of "dumb muscle".

Mogg Flunkies was released in 1998 with the Stronghold set and even after all those years WotC still didn't see fit to give it new art. I think we all appreciate Mogg Flunkies, and I doubt anyone is unhappy to see it (least of all Red mages), but it really smacks of laziness to not give it new artwork.

the answer to all of your questions is simple: these guys look like that mutant from 300. If you think that's cool, or don't care, you see the card for what it is: a Powerhouse that's won a fair number of the coveted Blue Envelope; if you think he looks gross, if you prefer your goblins to look like Duel Decks' Siege-Gang Commander, then unfortunately you will probably never like this card. Yeah it deserved new art.

This guy can do some damage and I am a pro so trust me, he will have the opportunities to attack and block.
