Is it just me or does this guy really look like Christopher Walken?
Anyway, I quite like the card, even though it's much slower than Cemetery Reaper. But once it gets going, it makes your zombies huge.

This guy is lazy. He won't get off his ass to go to an opponent's graveyard.

I don't see why everyone thinks that this is better than cemetery reaper. Cemetery reaper pumps your zombies as soon as he comes out. This guy doesn't do squat until you have spare mana to invest in him, and turns off the undying on your geralf's messenger to boot. I played some b/u zombies after innistrad, and I used cemetery reaper's ability maybe twice over the course of an entire fnm. I think i will just play mono black (with u/b duals for diregraff captain) and run phyrexian obliterator in this slot, thank you very much.

It's like a better, off-color Cemetery Reaper. Guess that's why is costs one more.

An interesting card...
Not quite as fun as his companion, Havengul Lich,
but also not completely shut down by Grafdigger's Cage.
Granted, Cemetery Reaper is usually better,
but this guy is a decent substitute in mono-Blue or an Innistrad Block deck.
I'll definitely be adding a couple to my upcoming Block Zombie deck in case the Cage shuts down my Lich,
or if I want a 3/3 and a bunch of +1/+1 counters instead of whatever is in the graveyard.
I wish he were a bit tougher, but I suspect he can help fuel a *monstrous* Zombie deck.

The Zombie Tribal has... how shall I say this... "died"? Heheheh...
Well, not really.
My point is that with Avacyn Restored, Werewolves, Zombies and Spirits were kind of shrugged off and replaced with Demons and Angels. It may have been because cards made to help Zombie's were... well, like this: not general enough to be a good Draft card, but not quick or efficient enough to be played in Standard.
That doesn't mean you can't cook yourself a tough Zombie deck, however. You just need to go Mono-black, and maybe include Birthing Pod. I've found it to be exceptionally helpful, since Zombies/Mono-Black has a nice mana-slope from 1 to 4 (Gravecrawler or Diregraf Ghoul / Butcher Ghoul / Cemetery Reaper or Geralf's Messenger / Phyrexian Obliterator).
Again, even though you should use Diregraf Captain, you'd have to include... (see all)
