This card is my token Limited creature.
The colour is barely a worry: 
? I could be playing 5-coloured and not have to search for a land to play it.
Every time it comes out, my opponent will have to constantly block it. Sure, they'll play Eyes in the Skies, but you know, there's only so many birds that can block this.
4 toughness is such a relief, especially considering red's other token colour-light hasters (WINK WINK LIGHTNING ELEMENTAL), because it can evade dying to Annihilating Fire or any 3/3 centaur token.
This is one of the dark horses (or dark beasts) of limited: looks bad, but really performs well. Give it some combat tricks/boosters (Deviant Glee, Pursuit of Flight, ethereal armor, etc.) and you're going to have a good time.

Oh dear lord... look under its mouth and rear legs. Yeah, that's a guy getting torn to pieces. I only noticed by closely looking at the actual card, wondering why a human leg was flying through the air.

Strictly better than Flameborn Hellion, yes, but don't forget Flameborn's predecessor: Iron-Barb Hellion!
Too bad about this card's crappy, crappy name. Even "Crimson Hellion" would have been better.
Of course, outside of Limited, Hellkite Charger and Conquering Manticore are worth the heavier red commitment.
