@Gruesome-Tree: They decided to reprint it only for the sake of hatred towards you. Also, they said not to tell you that you are bad at rating cards.
Sooooooo glad to see this again. Not only because it is one of the best cards ever printed, but also because the didn't just do what they normally do, slap on a drawback and make it cost 2 more.
Also, I can only imagine how long before it gets a ban in Modern.
P.S. PLEASE DON'T BAN IT IN MODERN. :(

What a dirty, dirty card. I was actually able to snag 2 of these in the launch day draft. It felt dirty. I felt dirty, but I was also pretty happy. It killed creatures, it allowed me to swing in for free, it won me games. Pay attention kids, Rancor is good and there's a reason why it got bumped up to an uncommon.

Between this and Quirion Dryad, I think the real question is will this stop Delver decks, or move Delver to U/G?

I heard rumors that Rancor was supposed to be a 2 or 3-cost spell, and the missing or was a typo (like Patheitc on Wit's End, or the Serendib Efreet's with the Ifh-Bíff Efreet art and border).
If you look at the cycle of other auras from Urza's Legacy (oh, what a surprise: a rigged card from the Urza block) such as Sluggishness, Cessation, Sleeper's Guile and Slow Motion. you'll see the resemblance.
If you look at them, each of them give a creature something: Can't Attack, Can't Block, Gains Fear, or Pay or sacrifice this. Other than Sluggishness, each of them cost .
That being said, I still think a +2/+0 trample enchantment that goes back to your hand is S... (see all)
