Okay, this is a 5/5 for 6 in blue. Given you need six mana to summon him, that's *gasp* six islands, unless you're going for multicolor or some sort of crazy strategy involving a pile of non-basic lands. And with islandwalk and blue having several ways to MAKE lands islands, I'm failing to see how this is bad.

This card isn't as terrible as it would first appear in Limited.

When drafting, it's not uncommon to be pushed one of these as a near-last pick. If you're drafting blue, then what are you complaining about? This guy becomes your sideboard weapon against OTHER people who are playing blue. And it's not like you wasted a pick on him, anyway. 5/5 unblockable for six mana, even with a pseudo-defender drawback, isn't that bad.

This card, Sealock Monster, Stormtide Leviathan, and Shipbreaker Kraken working together. It's all about how you play it.

I actually really enjoy him, not from a power perspective, but flavorwise. That said he isn't completely terrible. He's a 5/5 for 6 in blue, which seems pretty standard, and with the right combo he's a 5/5 unblockable. That said there are just better cards out there so 2/5

I do like serpents myself, but I don't understand why they keep reprinting this one into the core sets.

For budget constructed, in a mono Blue deck, run this gun! + Stormtide Leviathan as a finisher.

This is actually one of the best serpents. 5/5 for 6 in blue is pretty good, although with the huge creatures we're seeing nowadays its getting worse and worse by the day.
