What, not Unnatural Selection or Preferred Selection? Since, you know, natural selection kind of killed the original Aurochs. Sort of. Really humans killed the IRL Aurochs, but you can kind of argue that that too is natural selection, since things that arent easy to hit and that humans don't find tasty have an easier time surviving.

@Ideatog: Shouldn't those be Snow-covered Forests? Since, you know, to activate Rimehorn Aurochs ability, and to represent that the Aurochs were driven to extinction in the late Ice Age.

Would I play Aurochs over War Mammoth? Probably not. Even if you're running a playset of Aurochs, they're not reliable enough for competitive play. On the other hand, they are full of flavor (the flavor text says so) and they are boosted by the Cold Snap add-ons.

They're talking about bringing Aurochs back into existence (in real life). They'll inject recovered Auroch DNA into an ox embryo. I think Magic should celebrate and release a preconstructed, foiled Aurochs deck. They should reprint an alternate art Natural Selection with it too, because it would be ironic.

Another whimsical and flavorful card from the early days. Meh.
