Such costy lifegain like this never really used to be decent if you ask me, Angel's Feather these days does a far better job, but still isn't worth using unless you are building a life total - centered deck.

This card is particularly weak since White already has tons of life-gaining cards that are far more efficient.
This card also seems to be a trap for new players, who I see holding off on casting a spell for a turn in order to get the 1 life.

The best use of this particular version of Ivory Cup I've found is as a Sol Ring proxy. Erase out the center of the cup and the text box, add in some embellishments, and the once-useless cardboard now serves a purpose!
