Not really what one is hoping for in a three-mana combat trick, though it could certainly serve as unexpected removal for overconfident attacking fliers.

Leap of Flame is so much better than this, barring the change in the color it requires... Granting first strike means that that extra +0/+1 is quite meaningless, so the discount and Replicate are just pluses...
I used to like it, I think, maybe I even used it once, but now that I'm a better player I wouldn't think about it even for a second...

Way to take the flavor text completely literally. Think of it in tabletop miniatures terms, in that the pieces can only move along an x-y axis. It's a rough example of non-flying combatants, though of course in real life even someone on foot can get to the top of a hill and gain a height advantage.
