Might as well cast an Eldrazi for 8 mana.

8 c.c. should get you any target creature at least, if not it should target 2 nonblack creatures.

Hmmm, this? or 4 Doomblades worth of mana. Obvious choice is obvious.

Well, with this mana cost it is propably the worst creature killing spell ever.

Some of the most serious threat cost less than 3 mana. The cost is just too high for it to be effective.

This is an unusual ability (convert an enemy cmc into a saps) so I'm guessing the cost reflects their ineptitude at pricing at this time. Logically, if we consider the casual playable aether mutation as an unsummon stapled to 3g--gain 1/1 saps = to targets cmc, death mutation is a dark banishing stapled to the same for 6bg, costing one more than it should. I think the expense of this card is tied to its multiplicity and potential for great field advantage. Were it printed in modern times i think it would cost 5-6 but with a life loss drawback or the like. Sick card though, great flavor. I love cards that interact with the game on an imaginative level. This isn't just a few simple effects, its a concept card (ha!) that gives the game depth and poetry beyond the rules.

Too expensive, incoherent art, sorcery, targets only non-black...
Yeah, screw this.
