Why does Dromar have a locket with an old lady's picture in it??

Good card. At least, it's a Cancel with an akward manacost. At best, it serves you with a decent variety of choices.

I would choose the -2-2 if Bob was out on the table.

I think we're all missing the important thing here.

If you're hitting Esper colours reliably, this is an excellent counterspell even with just that mode (comparable to Cancel, but you're more likely to be able to use it third turn). Throw in the versatility and this is a pretty darn good card.

A great lifegain spell. In a pinch, it can get you life, but otherwise it has more useful functions. Compare to Heroes' Reunion which, while a decent card, takes up a slot in your deck for a card that's mostly useful when you're losing the game.

Dromar's Charm is ALWAYS useful. It counters anything counterable, it kills weenie, and it can gain life when you need it. May not be the best Charm ever, but certainly the best Charm from its cycle.

I don't get why this card is rated about 4. Why on earth would you ever choose the extremely limited -2 ability over a counterspell, which is the most powerful effect in the game. Would you rather kill a 2/2 bear or counter a Darksteel Colossus?
Ok the lifegain may be necessary to get one more chance to topdeck, but charms are silly because even though they offer utility, the abilities are so uneven its not worth the 3 color cost.
