Women in the village of Sursi had a tradition before a wedding - you can't have a bachelorette party without a drunk ride on a Mesa Pegasus. Eventually the tradition died out when the Sursi Tavern installed a mechanical bull.

Yes, but those non-flyers are not riders, but ground support and thus your band can be blocked by non-flyers.
Never understood what was the problem with banding. I just think that they couldn't get it right for computers. Banding had three rules:
1. Only one non-banding per attack group.
2. Attacking group is blocked as one and can be blocked by any that can block one in the group.
3. Player who had banding creature attacking or blocking gets to distribute the incoming damage.
It was the 'band with others' that got the situation confusing.
All these creatures that give their P/T as +P/+T to attacking or blocking creature when tapped don't work like band. First of all banding is commitment that is done before blockers are announced when the bonus giving is normally done after. Secondly only with a bander gets the defender say how to distribute the damage.
But on the other hand, concerning this card: Evasion & banding don't mix very well.

Use this in my retro White Weenie deck. Love that the pegasus has a friggen mohawk going on there.
A 1/1 with two useful abilities for 2 mana is a bit of a rarity in those days though Banding on a flier isn't massively useful. Not a ton of white fliers in the original set though.
