Just as a funny note...
In the Italian version there is a misprint: there is printed "anni" (years) instead of "danni" (damage). If you pay the kicker cost it deals three years to another target creature or player!

Wow, you guys are dumb. This card is still excellent. First of all, Searing Blaze can't hit a second creature, and thus can't "two-for-one". Secondly, Burn Trail itself needs creatures to work optimally, and thus do not work as well in certain deck types. This is also better than Burn Trail later in the game, when lands aren't as essential. Additionally, this is an instant, while Burn Trail is a sorcery, as previously mentioned. To conclude, it think it still compares very favourably with newer cards.

Kind of sucks compared to Burn Trail.

If you didn't have to choose a different target, this would be a staple red finisher. As it is, Searing Blaze makes it look silly.

only plus side over burn trail is that it is instant speed

Art seems reminiscent of Phyrexian Furnace...odd.
Anyways, yeah, if you could target the same thing, this would be solid.
As is, eh...probably only useful in multiplayer, and even then it won't be too outstanding.

I use Arc Trail if I need to burn things and Searing Blaze if I need to burn people.

Strictly worse than a lot of things

Works well against Meddle users.
