I could actually imagine Wizards refrains from quoting real persons like this on new cards to prevent some players from actually thinking they quoted fictional characters from the multiverse.
"Lewis Carroll, huh? Sounds like a badass white Cleric legend, gotta search for that one... ... ...
Dang, a card for her hasn't been printed yet. Guess i have to wait for a few more expansions..."
But i'd actually like some quotes from stories or poems of more or less famous authors on cards from new Core Sets.
But i guess that's not the kind of flavor Wizard wants anymore, they don't want their cards to refer to something outside of Magic. I guess that's ok, as opposed to the early days in Magic they have far more than enough fictional stories from Magic by now of which they can choose from for quotes.

The white Gray Ogre, not much else to say...I'd rather play this than Squire, although it would depend on the deck, format...

Always,
I want to be with you
And make believe with you
And live in harmony,
Harmony
Oh, love!

Almost as good as Squire. Almost.

Jerry had proven his friends wrong before when they told him there was no such thing as unicorns. Now it was time to prove some people wrong again - the people who say a unicorn can't win the Kentucky Derby.

At the time, it was an okay, if underwhelming card. White Knight is obviously far better but if you didn't get some of those in the pack, this is a basic critter that'll do what it says on the tin.
Sort of miss the quotes from real life authors.
