I think the Demon is the creature who is granted the protection from damage ability.

This doesn't give protection from a colour, it simply prevents damage from a colour. Just what a purple demon thing has to do with that is, as yet, unexplained.

Can't help against artifacts and strictly worse than protection in most cases. Won't save you from losing this and the creature to Go for the Throat
