I am so happy for this cycle. Giving casual and budget players access to dual lands is amazing, especially when you can pick up a playset for about a buck. Thank you WotC.

Why do the gates have such low ratings?

For now, being a gate, this has it's advantages. But I assume that the gate theme will not be carried on for long. So in the long run, this is another coastal tower. Which is ok, but there are much better lands available.

Oh look, they finally assigned Coastal Tower the correct rarity.
Hell, even with the Gate thing it's still best as a common. Although to be fair, some common lands are ridiculous. Looking at you, Cloudpost.

It may be no Hallowed Fountain, but any gate of the Azorius is an architectural masterpiece of unparalleled magnificence, a sacred passange way to the inner sanctum of exalted justice.

Common dual lands were a nice thing to print. This opens up many types of decks to many types of players.

Secret Illuminati message hidden in the 10 Guildgate cards. Check each cards flavour text, pick each letter that is slightly raised above the typeline and you get this message
THE GUILDS OF RAVNICA WILL DESTROY EACH OTHER

FINALLY, common dual lands. I'm not sure what used to bug me more, the fact that previously in recent blocks you'd have to splash a fair bit of cash for dual lands or suffer without, or getting a dual land in your rare slot. Sorry, but I'm the kind of guy who just likes a big derpy creature as a rare and not immediate 'need 4 of' colour fixers.

Guys... it was not printed because of it's Gate subtype, it was printed as a common dual land to ease limited play in multicolored heavy environment. They made it Gate to prevent "strictly worse" case in the same set, since they reprinted glorious shock lands.
The whole idea about Gates is really sweet, but I would like to see more cards which care about them... not just 1 per color.

Not as great as the enemy color ones since ally colors have so many better options that have been printed over the years. Still, common dual lands are about where lower-powered ones belong, IMHO.
