You could call Wizard Mentor a 'strictly better planeshifted version' of this.

Although he's not remotely as cuddly and doesn't have such an amazing flavor either:
The Snow Dog rescues your lost creatures. Genious! (The restriction to blue and green could be justified by the fact that those colors are its 'buddies', but it should also be able to bounce white creatures then.)

The reason it bounces only its allies but not white itself is that that was one of the themes of Ice Age: cards that interacted with their two ally colors.

Although as this was an old set most of the interactions weren't that useful, it is an interesting part of magics history as it was one of the earliest inter-color interaction cycles.
