I feel like cards like this are vastly under valued. Card vaue is typically determined by a cards deck synergy and its immediate impact on the board via removal or card drawing etc. I would say this defender card does have an immediate impact as it immediately forces your opponent to evaluate their tactics. The presence of a dedicated and hearty blocker forces your opponent to draw go or waste removal to make their attacks make any worthwhile gain without just leaving themselves open.
That said this card not only provides that kind of presence, it buffs your primary attacker (another cool thing about the Exalted mechanic is that it can make any card on your board a threat and your opponent won't even know which one until its swinging). Though down a Builder's Blessing and this guy is cable of stopping some of the biggest threats from the new core (including the new mythic rare dragon) assuming you can give it flying or reach some how.

A defender with Exalted is both extremely useful and beautifully flavorful - as the community who's support the exalted hero stays home to defend the border while the hero moves out.

Well you basically pay {W} for a 0/4 with defender, {1} for the exalted, and {1} more because it has a useful creature type and they safe you deck space by combining the 2. If I made a mono white exalted deck, I think this would be playable. 3/5

I like exalted, but this is a bit overcosted to be useful. Reach would have made it perfect.

This card definitely deserves a 3/5, it pumps your exalted attacker while providing a good body for defense. The fact that it has Defender definitely makes it loose 2 points.

Strong defender with a great mechanic that it seems people are constantly undervaluing.
Strong turn three defender with Exalted that belongs to TWO strong tribes (Champion of the Parish likes this; so does Elder Cathar and Captain of the Watch, among others) = solid card, no question.
And the art is interesting, makes you look closely at it to see what's what. I like that, too.
