This is at the same time the lowest- and highest-cost card I've seen. If you play this on turn one and don't draw lands or mana accel every single turn, you will probably lose the game. Therefore, it's not worth playing.

A great way to self-destruct. Particularly amusing since there's no way to get rid of the Ooze once it gets going (ironically, it'll soon get out of range of Red direct damage) - worse, with Pacificm effects floating around, this thing can be an auto-loss when cast.

Just to add insult to injury, if you play this later in the game when you have mana, the "must attack" clause will probably get it killed at the 2/2 stage!

An interesting concept (and essentially proto-Cumulative Upkeep), but there are alternatives which do this much better. On the other hand, it can be played early in the game and flung when it gets too big.

Kind of a cool card. The idea is sort of revisited in the Dark Ascension card Predator Ooze.

T1 ooze
T2 pay 1 attack with 2/2
T3 pay 2 attack with 3/3
T4 pay 3 attack with 4/4
T5 pay 4 attack with 5/5

This thing is more high maintenance then a prissy little blonde that likes her expensive high heel shoes. And this card is outclassed today, but at least you can fling it.

Give it soul link. Great source of "life gain" for triggers plus an eventual fling. Add cradle of vitality later and it a doubling card. Add in the legend that allows you to attack while tapped for a doubling creature. Add another soul link since they don't actually give life link.

Actually a great donate card. There's no in-built way to get rid of it, and if you use one or two land destruction cards to put them behind and/or notice that it'll trigger on the first upkeep they have it, paying for it will become increasingly debilitating. It'll probably attract some creature kill, but in order to do that they have to stop paying for it, now don't they? That makes it technically a two-for-one, but with the benefits of lightning bolt damage (at least, probably) and removing a kill spell specifically. And if they don't have one? Heh.
