Adding a step of power to Consume Strength requires...another *3* mana? Is WotC SURE about the metrics they used for this?
EDIT: And now I notice that this is a sorcery, rather than the instant Consume Strength was. Something's DEFINITELY up with the metrics...

If it would have been instant, it would be a strong card in limited. Now it's just meh.

Your probably made a face just like the elf on the artwork when you compared this card to Consume Strength.

Read ability: Oh! Read mana cost: oh. Read card type: ...oh...

This being a sorcery greatly limits its playability in limited

Because Cankerous Thirst was just too good, we needed to make it a sorcery, increase the cost by {2} and make the colors less flexible.
Love,

As said, it's not worth a second look past the Limited tables, but in Limited this is expensive but reasonable. Removal is still removal, and -3/-3 will kill quite a few creatures you care about. It's a shame this isn't a sorcery but you can still get good value out of this by using the buff to make their blocking choices awful, or killing their only blocker so you can swing in unopposed (and then it doesn't really matter it's not an instant).

Limited playbility, but it's removal. When you're hard up for removal, you take what you can get.
