Sigh, you'd think they would errata it to be a damn vampire, it has sengir in the name, the sengir vampire ability, it's a friggen' bat, and is noted as servants of Baron Sengir. FFS, make him a vampire!

Badly overpriced, and yet had they been a 2/2, I think they might have seen some play as a cheap cousin to Hypnotic Specter. Both could come out on turn 1 with a Dark Ritual.

I wonder why these bats were not given the vampire subtype. They clearly have the original vampire ability.

A card from when flavor accounted for so much more than it does nowadays...

@Smoked_Peasant
It's a bat from the Sengir region, which drinks blood (as some normal bats do). If Vampire Bats isn't a vampire, I wouldn't expect this to be one either.

A 1/2 flying that can be combo'd with many other cards (bad moon, Mephidross Vampire, Viridian longbow with deathtouch)
It's not that bad.

Just compare with Vampire Nighthawk.
The same cmc. But here we have 2 abilities. Nighthawk have 3 and in better synergy.
This is 1/2. Nighthawk is 2/3.
I have no more questions.

A 1/2, that can kill only 1/1 Creatures to get a counter and that for 3 Mana, that is not good enough
