I disagree with no constructed value. In its heyday a whole deck archtype was built around this card in both constructed and extended. However that was back in 2001 when magic was a little bit of a different game then. I do agree, this is a fun card and Crucible of Worlds just made it broken.

This with Flamekin Zealot In a red-white deck is drool-worthy.

Trenches decks, the bane of my Green/Red beatdown deck in Invasion block.

Many players often added red to use stuff like Rakavolver, Prophetic Bolt and Suffocating Blast which makes it annoying to play against. You had to deal with tough creatures, instant EOT damage as well as counters

Trenches would be a late finisher/swarmer or simply a late game chump blocker creator. Once they ran out of spells to cast, they could start building their own Goblin Soldier army whilst withering whatever you had left

Play it with one or both of Coat of Arms and Pandemonium on the board for some major pain.

used to run a rwu control deck with this card, opposition, armageddon, wrath of god, lightning angel for beef. with some draw, counters, burn, and all the pain lands for unfriendly colors from invasion block, the deck actually did pretty well.

Azusa, Lost but Seeking
Crucible of Worlds
Temple of the False God

= 6 goblins a turn. Of course, if you're running Doubling Season and Parallel Lives you get more.

I had this going in an EDH deck once that needed a fair bit of chaff to go along with the critters ( Clickslither and such) and I found it to be rather effective in doing so.

Easily one of my favorite cards. This card has so much going on, and it can turn any situation into a more fun situation. Not constructed viable, but definitely a fun card.
