I'd use this if it didn't require threshold. It would be perfect in my Tajic EDH deck because it would clear all the blockers allowing for a free swing, and would enable battalion the next turn (or that turn if I have a haste enabler).

Forget Martial Coup, I'd rather have March of Souls (though that may be because I play a spirit token deck based around it).

Maybe it's just because I haven't read the books, but since when was Kirtar powerful enough to do this? He's only a 2/2! Somehow, even the mightly Progenitus falls to this bird guy.
